We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came together to support our Flotilla to Fight Cancer event on August 19th making it a record-breaking success!

Music can create a magical atmosphere where spirits shine and hope thrives and nothing could be a better example of this than Saturday’s Flotilla which raised $77,572 for the Maine Cancer Foundation!

To each and every individual, organization, sponsor, and partner who contributed their time, resources, and effort, we extend our deepest appreciation towards making this event a resounding success. “It takes a village” and you all rallied! Check out the photos.

Your support has enabled us to provide vital resources to the Maine Cancer Foundation so that they can continue their work to reduce the impact that cancer has on Maine patients and their families.

Flotilla to Fight Cancer Returns for 2023!

It’s back and better than ever!!

The Don Campbell Band is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Flotilla to Fight Cancer! A free benefit concert in Casco Bay, with donations benefitting the Maine Cancer Foundation. This year’s event takes place Saturday August 19th, off Cow Island in Southern Maine’s Casco Bay.

This concert event is an actual flotilla of seacraft made up of all of you – concertgoers whose donations will benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation. The Don Campbell Band will be performing from a ‘stage’ aboard a lobster boat, with their audience gathered in boats of all shapes, sizes, and styles. The things that unite them are many: a common interest in fighting cancer, honoring those who have endured the disease, revering the professionals dedicated to treating and curing, as well as lovers of music, boating, and the many friends and fans of the Don Campbell Band.

Last summer’s event far surpassed expectations, raising over $52,000 for the Maine Cancer Foundation. This significant feat was accomplished through the collective support of an audience that was not only generous in spirit, but also in size.

Don Campbell says:

“I am truly grateful for the efforts made and inspired by the many people who support this event and help it grow year after year. Through this kind of collaboration, we can help make miracles happen. We expect this year’s event is going to be even more successful than last; for me, the anticipation of this concert can only be matched by that of the countdown to Christmas.”

Looking at this year’s event, the Don Campbell Band is adding even MORE excitement to the day with a few surprise guests, including 12/OC the Duo among others, you won’t want to miss it!

Those who do not have a boat and want to join us for the Flotilla concert can do so by purchasing a boat ticket from Fogg’s Water Taxi & Charters. They will be running a special charter out to Cow Island for the first half of the show (1pm-3pm). Get your group of friends together, and buy tickets now, as space is limited for this exclusive concert charter. Fogg’s will be donating 50% of their ticket proceeds to the Maine Cancer Foundation.

BAND CREATES A FLOTILLA AND RAISES OVER $50,000 FOR THE MAINE CANCER FOUNDATION!

Portland, Maine – The 2^nd Annual Flotilla to Fight Cancer Benefit Concert (originated and organized by the Don Campbell Band) was a day of music and heartfelt giving, not to be forgotten.

Beautiful vessels, large and small, of many different colors, shapes and sizes were in attendance on Saturday for the Don Campbell Band’s 1pm start. Sailboats, motor yachts, powerboats, lobster boats, kayaks and paddle boards, and even inflatable unicorns, were present, filled with smiling and wide-eyed people, young and old, families and their pets – all hungry for a day filled with music on the water.

The sound across the water was spectacular as it traveled without impedance, beautifully reflecting off each vessel. Two special guest, half-hour performances were also delivered by Captain Ray and The Castaways and Bushwood, from the Royal River, Yarmouth, ME as part of this 4-hour music event.

Two, pristine, Maine-made, Peter Kass lobster boats, tied stern to stern, would be the stage for the bands’ performances. Cow Island, a light breeze, blue skies, sunshine, and Casco Bay was the setting for the day.

The final song performed at 5pm, which brought the house down, was a wonderful, violin solo of the Star Spangled Banner, played by Tom Yoder, which some folks says was beautifully audible on the shore at Falmouth Foreside.

It was a day of music and heartfelt giving, not to be forgotten.

The Flotilla to Fight Cancer gofundme page will remain open for donations through December 31, 2022. Making good on a commitment made last summer, Don Campbell and the Don Campbell band are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Flotilla to Fight Cancer – a free benefit concert out on the water, with all donated proceeds benefitting the Maine Cancer Foundation. This year’s event takes place Saturday August 20, off Cow Island in Southern Maine’s Casco Bay.

This free concert event is an actual flotilla of seacraft made up of concertgoers whose donations will benefit the Maine Cancer Foundation. The band will be performing from a ‘stage’ aboard a lobster boat, with their audience gathered in boats of all shapes, sizes, and styles. The things that unite them are many: a common interest in fighting cancer, honoring those who have endured the disease, revering the professionals dedicated to treating and curing, as well as lovers of music, boating, and the many friends and fans of the Don Campbell Band.

Last summer’s pioneer event was a runaway success, with this first-time concert-on-the-water fundraiser raising $31,059 for the Maine Cancer Foundation; well-exceeding its goal of $25,000. This was accomplished through the collective support of an audience that was not only generous in spirit, but also in size.

Looking ahead to this year’s event and fundraising, Don Campbell says, “We were all very humbled and grateful for the generosity that last year’s event displayed. We are looking forward to putting on another terrific concert in August and hope that the word will spread about this truly unique event to benefit a truly amazing organization.”

Aug. 20th Concert begins at 1pm on the Falmouth side of Cow Island
Last year, Don Campbell and the band had an idea to launch a fundraising event like none other, to honor friends, family, and loved ones affected by cancer. The first annual Flotilla to Fight Cancer was an amazing success, drawing an astounding number of attendees beyond wildest expectations, which enabled the band and fans to make a donation to the Maine Cancer Foundation in the amount of $32,000.
