On Sunday, May 15th, the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame (MCMHOF) will be holding its 45th Induction Ceremony celebrating Don Campbell and 2 of his contemporaries Peter Allen and Bobby Reed. Located in the Silver Spur in Mechanics Falls, this distinguished event will be open to the public for all country music lovers to enjoy!
Don’s beginnings were rooted in music “I grew up in a Celtic music family – always folk song and sing-alongs in my house growing up… Lots of loving people!”. With a 30+ year career in the music industry, Don’s achievements abound, he has won several national musical contests, including the $50,000 Grand Prize Winner at Nashville’s Grand ‘Ol Opry and the National Jim Beam Back Room Band Search at Nashville’s Wildhorse Saloon. Don has opened up for country music greats such as Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood and Willie Nelson, he has recorded 11 albums, and performs over 300 shows a year a Solo artist and with his full band.
Don said after learning about the induction: “I’m quite honored to receive this award which will leave a mark in Maine’s great history of amazing talent(s). Some of the names awarded prior to me are some of my musical heroes. I’m quite proud of this forthcoming induction for not only me, but for all of the great musicians I’ve shared many stages with, which helped me to receive this prestigious award.”
The museum will be open for viewing at 11am and the ceremony, which will include performances from all the inductees, will begin at 1pm.
