About Don & the Don Campbell Band
Performing Songwriter Don Campbell is Southern Maine’s favorite son. And, in kind, Maine is more than eager to share Don, his talents, and his music with the world. A steadfast neighbor, Don is equally proud to hail from Scarborough Maine, which he still calls his home to this day. It is from his small hometown that he has cast his many lures and lines in the nearby waters, reeling in both local and regional awards for his songwriting and band, as well as national awards presented at the Grand Ol’ Opry. He receives them each and all with equal amounts of gratitude, appreciation, and humility.
He has a unique and uncanny ability to sing comfortably in the tenor range of Vince Gill, Chris Isaak or Dan Fogelberg, and go easily into the sub-bass vocal level range of country greats Josh Turner and Johnny Cash, yielding a true and authentic honeyed baritone. Don Campbell’s music resides in the home of “American Crossover,” akin to the Eagles and John Cougar Mellencamp.
Don won a $50,000.00 Grand Prize at Nashville’s Grand Ol’ Opry with his original music, a Grand Prize custom Gibson Les Paul guitar from Jim Beam’s Back Room Band Search, and he’s a six-time winner of the title, “Maine’s Best Singer-Songwriter” from the Maine Sunday Telegram’s Annual Reader’s Poll.
He has also received recognition for his Double CD Release, Kites To Fly – Celebrating The Music of Dan Fogelberg. Officially endorsed in April of 2014 by the Fogelberg Association of Peoria, he and bandmates toured the country performing “An Evening of Dan Fogelberg Music.
Don has nearly a dozen and a half full-length releases and a number of online streaming singles in his ever-growing catalog.
Equally as impressive as his own accomplishments is the list of artists and acts he has shared the stage with, including: Carrie Underwood, Big & Rich, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Gretchen Wilson, the Marshall Tucker Band, the Guess Who, Livingston Taylor, Shawn Colvin, Chris Young, and so many others.
